About me:
I'm an aspiring Engineering and Science librarian working toward a
Master's degree in Library and Information Science at the University of
Pittsburgh. My previous work and education were largely in wireless
engineering, but I admit, I never developed a deep love of the subject.
I did not find the same fulfillment in it that I find in library
work--whether it be helping with someone's research, teaching
information literacy, or fighting
for intellectual freedom.
I went into engineering largely because I enjoyed
the company of engineers and found the high-level concepts they studied
interesting. That still holds true; I'm happy to help with research,
discuss engineering concepts, and play with computers, but I prefer
not to be a practicing engineer.
I grew up in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and have moved back and forth between there, Pittsburgh, and the DC Metro area for the past ten years. Being back in Pittsburgh is nice; it feels like home, in a lot of ways.
I'm a theatre tech, geocacher, homebrewer, and gamer, all off-and-on, in my spare time. I also enjoy canoeing and camping. I like birds.
My Wii friend code is 7214 7976 4589 3382.
